Praise

I was recently looking up encouraging bible verses to put in prayer cards for some of my friends.  I came across this excerpt from a book by Nancy DeMoss (I have just finished reading another book by Nancy and got a lor out of it).  I really liked her comments about praise and have decided that maybe I should read her book 'A Place of Quiet Rest'.  I'll let you know what I think of the book when I have read it.  If anyone has read it, tell me what you thought of it. . .
"I will bless the Lord at all times:
His praise shall continually be in my mouth."
Psalms 34:1
Praise is an expression of faith and an act of the will. It is not based on how we feel.

"Every day I will bless Thee;
and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever."
Psalms 145:2
Praise is not a response to our circumstances, which constantly fluctuate. Praise is a response to the goodness and love of God who never changes.

"By [Jesus] therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually,
that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name."
Hebrews 13:15
Praise demonstrates faith that God is bigger and greater than any circumstance we may be facing.

One of the ways I love to praise God is with my music

"My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed:
I will sing and give praise."
Psalm 57:7
Praise is a ministry to God. Praise is first and foremost for God, not for us. The purpose of praise is to bring Him blessing and pleasure, not to make us feel good.

"Praise the Lord, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise His holy Name."
Psalm 103:1

Whats been going on with ME!

Outside my window its sunny and there are a few fluffy clouds floating around.  It's the first day of spring and its beautiful.  I'm looking at the kids sandpit and realising a great christmas present would be sandpit toys :)

I have been listening to the string quartet group 'Bond'.  It's nice, fast music and helps with the housecleaning, plus its very nice music!!!

I am wearing track pants, toe socks and my faviourite knitted puple jumper (daggy but extreemly comfortable)

I am thankful for cold and flu panadol rapid.  My whole family is sick this week and panadol is the only way I'm surviving looking after two grumpy, sick but for some reason very active kids

I am pondering on how to truly love my husband and children whole-heartedly and to not take them or other great friendships for granted.

I am reading a book by Mary Beth Chapman. I havent gotten very far because it made me cry. I hate crying so I stopped reading for the meantime.  I will need to compose myself and get on with the reading for Book Club.

I am creating nothing..I'm not a creative person at all. But I will need to make dinner soon...that might be kinda creative.

I am praying praise to God - one of my best friends is pregnant with her first child.  Pray for Gods blessing on her, her husband and the little miracle growing inside her.

I am looking forward to floriade.  I havent really gone properly since living in Canberra and I think the kids will have a great time especially at the Petting Zoo. Plus, I love the flowers and the little shops.

A few of my favourite things are
  • Saturday morning tea with Ben and the kids - coffee, donut, playground, and family catch up time.
  • Breaky chats with my Mum and Dad
  • Evening walks with the family
  • Listening to Zac call out "Mummy" which sounds more like "Marmeeee"...he sounds very adorable.
A picture thought I'm sharing is my sister and her kids.  Thinking of them and praying for the whole family as they prepare for the birth of their baby next month.

Immanuel - (Michael Card)

"If God is with us, who can stand against us?
Our God is with us!
Immanuel ! ! !

Romans 15:6-7

"Now may the God of patience and comfort
grant you to be like-minded toward one another,
according to Christ Jesus,
that you may with one mind and one mouth
glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

This verse was a great encouragement and challenge to me to be unified with other believers, to speak honestly and openly with them and to together pray and glorify God our Father.

I am often overwhelmed with how much I love the people in my church (and friends in other churches too:). How much I love their heart's for God, how they are eager to do what needs to be done, to move forward with clear focus. I've witnessed this unity many times and it seems to cause me to walk closer with God.

My First Post

This is my new and first blog!  I love reading other people's blogs and finding out what other people do in their days. So i though that maybe I should start a blog and try to give as much encouragement to people as other blogs have given to me. So I'm going to attempt to be a blogger!!! This blog is going to be where I can post my thoughts, my photos, and what the Lord is teaching me day by day. I pray it will be a blessing to you, and you can gain encouragement and enjoyment from what is going on in the Wyllie household.

So, I'll tell you a little about myself . . .

I was born in January 1987. I grew up in Adelaide, SA with my parents and 3 other siblings. I am the 3rd out of my siblings and very much enjoy having both older and younger brothers and sisters. I grew up in a Christian family where we were all encouraged to seek the Lord in everything.

I went to Para Vista Primary School and Modbury High School. When I finished school I went to Stones and Muriden Business College. I then worked for 6 months at Education.au (in Adelaide). In 2006 I moved to Wagga to be with my fiance Ben and worked at 'Sureway'.

I was married to my wonderful husband on 10 February, 2007.   I love my Ben so much and I love that love and care that he shows to me and our children. I love his gentle and funny but leading spirit. I love that God always comes first in his life and I love how he portrays this to his family.

So, we lived in Wagga while Ben finished his University degree in IT. In October 2007 we moved to Canberra and Ben started working for an IT security business.  We started attending Westminster Presbyterian Church and have made many long lasting friends.

In January 2008, the Lord blessed Ben and I with a baby daughter. Lydia is a beautiful girl. She is happy, talkative, funny, caring, sociable, sometimes stubborn and just a really special girl. She is always so much fun to talk to and to spend my day with.

In February 2010, the Lord blessed us again with a baby son. Zachary has quite a personality.  He enjoys being at home with his family and doesn't much like other people yet. But when we are home, he is always laughing and trying to be funny. He is a happy, playful boy. He is a very special boy and is lots of fun to wrestle with on the lounge room floor.

Anyway, I need to go now but it has been fun to start a blog. I hope you have fun reading. Let me know what you think!!!

Love,
Gini
